Thirty-Fourth Flame-[voice]

[At first, there's the sound of a lot of shuffling like someone trying to grab the journal but they can't quite pick it up. After a bit of struggling, there's a loud thump of the sound of something hitting the floor with said-journal. There's a bit of grumbling, but not much.

And though the words are clearly angry, the voice that's speaking them is so high-pitched that it's probably just laughable.]

This isn't what I had in mind when I said I missed seeing the monsters!

It's where the Digimon are born and live and stuff. It's kind of like a parallel of Earth or something according to Koushiro. There are all kinds of monsters there.

And you can just enter it? Doesn't it have any negative effects on you?

You can get through with gateways and rifts. Daisuke said that his group uses the computers at school though, but I'm not sure how that works. It doesn't have that much of an effect though. I mean we can still die and everything, so we're pretty human.

How dangerous is that place?

There were times we almost died a lot, and we fought a lot of the bad guys to save the world from being destroyed. Probably about as dangerous as this place minus the experiments.

I guess it should make sense. How old are you?

I turned twelve last fall.

[A pause.

A very pregnant pause.]

What?

...well kind of closer to winter I guess. The end of November.

You...

[What is this.] And you nearly died a few times. You're nearly twelve, and you nearly died a few times. [She knows there were younger people in war, and it can't be helped, but still... They shouldn't have to fight. Stay at home, let everyone else do it. It's ridiculous.]

Hey, hey, hey! I am twelve...here at least. [And he did die once, about fifteen months ago when the spirits all took over but that's not important right now.] That's what happens when you have to save two worlds though. It's better to be me than members of my team.

I guess, but... It's sad, knowing kids have to fight a war like that.

We kind of didn't have a choice. We were just a bunch of kids at camp and then we got stuck there to fight alongside the Digimon.

Got stuck? How?

The rift pulled us in, and we couldn't get out the first time until the gateway opened. After we fought and saved Earth, we had to return back to the Digital World anyway and couldn't leave until another gate opened.

[Blink. Blink.]

Your world is strange.

Yeah, I hear that a lot. Earth's not as weird, but the Digital World...the first day that we were there we were able to hide inside a tree. And got attacked by giant bugs.

You are pretty small. A hole in a tree wouldn't be too hard to hide in. [Forgetting for a moment that you're supposed to be a kid here.]

It wasn't a hole though, it was the whole base. And I'm not that small! [...though he is shorter than everybody on his team except Koushiro, Takeru, and his sister.]

... The base? [Thinking for a moment. Well, if they crouched well enough...] If you found a good tree, it would be possible. A little cramp, but possible.

We walked through it. And we were inside it so that the monsters couldn't find us for a bit while we planned. The Digital World has a lot of hiding places like that.

... What do you mean 'through it'?

Just what it sounds like. We walked through it and stopped in the middle.

... How exactly do you just walk through a tree? That makes no sense.

The Digital World doesn't really make sense either.
