Hey guys if you see a little kitten with wings wandering around the village, be careful with her okay? She's tiny and needs to be safe. She's staying with us so um, guys, I adopted a cat!

...she keeps us in line, you know? And she could help us take care of the kids, they like her too.

... [Nods, shrinking away slightly.] It's really stupid, you know? I think I'm jealous of her. Or... scared, or something.

[moving with him so he can't really shrink] Jealous? Why?

[Finally just grabs onto him and scoots sideways, so they're both sitting in the chair.] Same reason I was of you for a while; I'm afraid she'd do a better job with Takeru. Girls are better at that stuff, you know? And besides, she's been your best friend forever. I kind of suck at not being jealous of people that could challenge my placement in life.

...oh come on. [lightly headbutts him] I keep telling you that none of us are ever gonna be as good for TK as you are.

...you know, when we were all split up and I found him by himself, he was really upset because PicoDevimon told him that you left because you hated him. I've never seen him that upset, he really honestly thought that's why you left, PicoDevimon told him that you had said so yourself. But when he realized that PicoDevimon was lying, he was so pumped to go find you again.

He's a kid...they cling to people they enjoy. Sora reminds him of his mom. I'm like the fun uncle. You're his brother though, you can screw up a lot and he won't hate you but he could probably hate us if we messed up a lot.

[he pauses then, trying to think of how to address the last issue] ...Sora and I have been friends for a long time, yeah. And I...whatever, the point is, she can't replace you, you can't replace her. You guys are two different people okay? I value you both a lot but in different ways so stop worrying about Sora replacing you.

...

[Wibbles very slightly before mashing his face into Taichi's collarbone. ...This probably hurts a little, given he's still wearing your goggles. So he flinches, paws at your collarbone, and moves to take said goggles off his head.]

[jumps a little at that but doesn't bother moving him] ...what'd I say wrong now?

Nothing. You just made it make sense, again, and now I feel stupid.

...of course I made sense. [hairpet] You're really way too hard on yourself.

[Grumbles softly.] Dad is, too. I think I get it from him.

I dunno. I like your dad, he's a good guy. He does what he can to make sure things are the best for you. Sorta like what you do for Takeru.

...I love my dad. [Leaves it at that, kind of half-sulking and leaning at an odd angle against Taichi's collarbone, the goggles and headband still in his hands.]

I know. [notices the goggles and headband in his hands and takes them, playing with the goggles a little] ...have I ever told you why I have the goggles in the first place?

[Sits up and tilts his head a bit.] You mean you actually have a reason for wearing the stupid things? I thought you just wore them 'cause you thought they were cool.

Well that too, but yeah there's sort of a reason why.

They belonged to my grandpa, or my grandpa's friend. Anyway whatever when I was little I wasn't...well, I was a kid. I saw one of my friends getting bullied by a bigger kid and I mean, you don't go attacking bigger kids, they'll kick your butt. Anyway I didn't know what to do and I was telling my grandpa about it when he came up with these goggles.

He said that they belonged to a good friend of his. Goggles of courage and friendship. His friend was a pilot but he got sick and died or something. But Grandpa kept the goggles anyway. And then he gave them to me.

Then he said, "There are times when you must be brave to protect your friends. I'll give you these goggles so you never forget your courage".

So...I guess that's why I keep them. It's kind of silly but it's meaningful.

[Kind of sees the goggles in a new light, now.] ...So your crest was courage before we even went to the Digital World, then.

I guess so. I've always just remembered that ever since then. I have to protect my friends. I have to fight for what's right. The goggles just help. Like your harmonica kinda.

...'cept the harmonica was just something dad gave me when I was tiny. It wasn't like it belonged to a now-dead friend and represents courage for my friends.

[lightly smacks him on the head] I meant that it represents a strong bond. You used to play it a lot in the Digital World...it was comforting. Sometimes annoying, but mostly comforting.

[Scrunches his face.] I could teach you sometime if you wanted.
