Hey guys if you see a little kitten with wings wandering around the village, be careful with her okay? She's tiny and needs to be safe. She's staying with us so um, guys, I adopted a cat!

Hey Yamato, it's August first! I'm coming back to the house right now, so get them ready for you-know-what, okay?

[Anybody walking through town will see Taichi heading back for Chosen House weighed down with kitten supplies and some other food, along with a couple of cans of frosting and some cans of paint. Feel free to stop him and ask why he has all of that]

[Wibbles very slightly before mashing his face into Taichi's collarbone. ...This probably hurts a little, given he's still wearing your goggles. So he flinches, paws at your collarbone, and moves to take said goggles off his head.]

[jumps a little at that but doesn't bother moving him] ...what'd I say wrong now?

Nothing. You just made it make sense, again, and now I feel stupid.

...of course I made sense. [hairpet] You're really way too hard on yourself.

[Grumbles softly.] Dad is, too. I think I get it from him.

I dunno. I like your dad, he's a good guy. He does what he can to make sure things are the best for you. Sorta like what you do for Takeru.

...I love my dad. [Leaves it at that, kind of half-sulking and leaning at an odd angle against Taichi's collarbone, the goggles and headband still in his hands.]

I know. [notices the goggles and headband in his hands and takes them, playing with the goggles a little] ...have I ever told you why I have the goggles in the first place?

[Sits up and tilts his head a bit.] You mean you actually have a reason for wearing the stupid things? I thought you just wore them 'cause you thought they were cool.

Well that too, but yeah there's sort of a reason why.

They belonged to my grandpa, or my grandpa's friend. Anyway whatever when I was little I wasn't...well, I was a kid. I saw one of my friends getting bullied by a bigger kid and I mean, you don't go attacking bigger kids, they'll kick your butt. Anyway I didn't know what to do and I was telling my grandpa about it when he came up with these goggles.

He said that they belonged to a good friend of his. Goggles of courage and friendship. His friend was a pilot but he got sick and died or something. But Grandpa kept the goggles anyway. And then he gave them to me.

Then he said, "There are times when you must be brave to protect your friends. I'll give you these goggles so you never forget your courage".

So...I guess that's why I keep them. It's kind of silly but it's meaningful.

[Kind of sees the goggles in a new light, now.] ...So your crest was courage before we even went to the Digital World, then.

I guess so. I've always just remembered that ever since then. I have to protect my friends. I have to fight for what's right. The goggles just help. Like your harmonica kinda.

...'cept the harmonica was just something dad gave me when I was tiny. It wasn't like it belonged to a now-dead friend and represents courage for my friends.

[lightly smacks him on the head] I meant that it represents a strong bond. You used to play it a lot in the Digital World...it was comforting. Sometimes annoying, but mostly comforting.

[Scrunches his face.] I could teach you sometime if you wanted.

It's got your spit on it though.

What, are you phobic of something that could be looked at as kissing your best friend?

No! That's just really unsanitary and gross. I'm not phobic of anything.

[Laughs softly, moving to stand up and check on the cupcakes.] Sure.

Well I'm not...[looks over his shoulder] Good?

[Stop giving him eleven year old ideas. Because at this point he'd be liable to do it just to freak you out and then realize later what he had actually done. Awkward.] Yeah. They'll need to cool for a bit, but... [Opens the oven and with use of a pair of oven mitts, extracts the cupcakes.]

[They're both really awkward already. And eleven year old ideas usually aren't good anyway ~~like groping Tear~~. Backs off enough to let Yamato have room, leaning over him again to look at the cupcakes] Awesome! So once they're cool we can frost them?

[Nods.] Meaning now would be a good time to make the frosting. [Breaks out frosting-making stuff.]
