I never told you about any of the crests or the Digivice? Really?

If you did it may have only been briefly, but I'm certain that I would recall such a detail.

...hold on. [brb Taichi's running into the house to grab some paper and a pencil before returning and sitting on the ground. He draws a picture of all eight crests and hands it to Raine while pulling his Digivice out of his pocket. It doesn't work here, but he has it]

[She watches him draw the crests, looking very interested as she studies the images on the page.]

Eight different symbols... one for each member of your group?

[granted they're kind of messy but they're solid enough to get the idea] Yup! [and while he's talking he'll start pointing out each crest] Courage, Friendship, Love, Knowledge, Sincerity, Reliability, Hope, and Light. They're all supposed to represent a special trait we each have.

Ah, I see. Hmm... [She studies them for a moment more, then looks back up at him] Is Courage yours, by any chance?

Uh huh. How'd you guess?

Heh, I just had a feeling. Though I can't say I know too much about the others.

Well...let's see. The crest of Friendship belonged to my friend Yamato because even though he's kind of a jerk sometimes he's a completely loyal friend. The crest of Love belonged to my friend Sora because she's totally compassionate, always taking care of others and looking out for all of us. The crest of Knowledge belonged to Koushiro and well, that should be obvious haha. The crest of Sincerity belonged to my friend Mimi because even though she could be really blunt and sometimes harsh, she always meant what she said. The crest of Reliability belonged to my friend Jyou because he was always the one we could count on to help; he was the doctor of our group. The crest of Hope belonged to my friend Takeru, Yamato's little brother, because even though he spent a lot of time crying he never gave up. And the crest of Light actually belonged to Hikari because...well...she's always so optimistic about everything, how could she not have the crest of Light?

I see. That says a lot about them, and goes in hand with what you said you've all learned during your travels. How did you discover the meanings behind them?

Yeah, it definitely explains a lot. Gennai told us about the crests and tags, that's mostly how we figured it out. But during the last battle we had to fight, Apocalymon destroyed them, completely crushed them. But we realized that the power of our crests was inside us all along so we didn't even really need them.

That must have been quite a scare. Relying on something so long, only to have it taken away... but it did give you the strength to realize that it was there all along. I wonder if some of us could have benefitted from little reminders like that during our journey.

[She notices the digivice in his other hand] And that's the other item you were speaking of, yes?

It was really scary when they got destroyed; we thought we were all going to die and that it was hopeless. But we knew we couldn't give up and well, the rest is history.

[looks at the digivice] Oh yeah, this is the Digivice! It doesn't work here without Agumon or anything but it's still pretty cool. [hands it over for examination]

Indeed. You stayed true to yourselves and came through to victory.

[She examines the device] This is very interesting. You say it doesn't work without Agumon, but what other functions does it have?

Exactly. We put up a good fight.

Not a lot actually...I mean it's supposed to have a clock or something and it's got a radar to track other devices and it can produce light but that's about it. Without Agumon it's more for decoration.

Good.

I see... so in case you were separated, you were able to keep track of one another with them, correct? It's a handy device to have.

More or less. We got separated a lot of times while we were there.

Is that so? That must have been troublesome.

Kind of...it was a mess for a while.

... What happened?

The first time we got separated, it was because this evil Digimon, Devimon, he tricked us to spend the night in this mansion and then he separated all of us by breaking up File Island. A little while later when we were reunited again and we were on the search for our crests, my friend Sora got kidnapped by this other Digimon, Datamon. I rescued her but then we had to fight against Etemon to destroy this dark network he created. We destroyed it but me and...well he was Koromon when we arrived there, me and Koromon got pulled into this dimensional rift thing and went back home to Japan for the day.

Since time passes a lot faster in the Digital World than home, weeks and weeks had gone by when me and Koromon were gone. But we managed to get back and we found out that everybody had separated...Sora left to go find me and then everybody else separated too. We all got back together again and then we went home for a while and we had to fight Vamdemon and everything.

We were together again for a while, but then Takeru was kidnapped but he managed to save himself. Yamato had wandered off too and then...[he pauses then] Well, I was being stupid, we both were I guess and we ended up in this huge fight. Yamato walked away and then Jyou and Mimi went off on their own too.

By then it was just me, my sister, Sora, Takeru, and Koushiro. At that point Hikari got really sick and so I had to leave her with Sora and Takeru while me and Koushiro went to find her some medicine. I didn't want to leave them again, but I was scared she was going to die or something. Of course we were attacked and got separated anyway.

Anyway so then Sora and Takeru left to go find the rest of our team because we needed them for the final fight. We all got back together except Mimi, and we didn't know where she was. But it was a good thing we were reunited...I was almost dead. If Yamato hadn't shown up...[moving on]

Anyway eventually Mimi showed up with some allies of ours and we were all together for the final fight and then we got to go home. Or my case, here.

[Raine nods, remaining silent as he speaks] That's quite a story. It sounds like there were a lot of major things constantly going on, but I'm glad you all were able to find each other once more and learn to work together. You named quite a few foes. Were they all working together?

And Hikari... no wonder you were worried for her. Is she sickly by nature, or was it just the cold you mentioned?

Also... the time passed differently between your two worlds? That's very strange. Do you know what caused it?

Nah...well sort of. The Dark Masters were working together but the rest of them seemed to just be doing it individually. They all wanted to destroy the Digital World.

...she used to get sick a lot when she was little. Really sick. She almost died once when she was like four or five.

We're not sure how time passed differently in the Digital World and Earth, but after we fought and beat Apocalymon time synced up again so they were the same. That's why we had to go home.

Why would they want to destroy a world that they were a part of?

... I see. And you're not much older than she is. That must have been frightening. It's no wonder that she must feel the way you say she does; if everyone worries for her, in order to make up for that, she must care for others around her in kind.

Perhaps it was the world's enemies that had something to do with the time difference, then... I suppose it doesn't matter right now.

I'm not sure...to rebuild it maybe to their liking.

Yeah...it was my fault she almost died both times. But even when she's sick or she feels bad she just doesn't care, she doesn't want to hold any of us back and she wants what's best for all of us. It's...I don't even know.

Maybe...when my friend Daisuke was here, he said that three years from now everybody gets to go back and forward to the Digital World but time's still synced up.
