Hey, all of you guys who know how to actually use a sword! Anybody up for a sparring match? I need to get better with this thing eventually.

Haruhi, the spirits are still ignoring me so I give up. For those of you who are good at that sort of thing, how'd you get them to really talk to you? The only one who really listens to me is Nala...she's nice, and healing magic helps, but I want to learn more anyway.

Man, nearly two years in this place and I still can't get it.

[He's going to leave his journal open, but in between responses, he'll be going over some training movements with the sword he's acquired. Jack Sparrow has taught him well...and Sparrow's taught him some other things, too.]

[Well, next to Ezra Taichi just looks like an unprepared doofus. He's going to take a moment to examine the armor. Damn.]

It's just something I borrowed from Sokka's place. [And he's pulling out his smaller cutlass. Yeah, it's not that impressive, but with the way he gives it a test wave he thinks otherwise.]

I see. I find that sparring using the same type of weapon as my opponent helps me train in a variety of different fighting styles, so cutlass it is. [In a flash of light, a row of cutlasses appears in front of Erza, hovering in the air. After examining them, she decides on one and grabs it, causing the rest to disappear.]

Magic. I have the ability to summon weapons and armour, which is more useful than most people think.

I was born with it. At least, I think so; I wasn't able to use it until I was eleven years old, roughly.

[Erza's using this time to examine her sword for any scratches or chips. After a few moments of checking, she appears to be satisfied with its condition and gives it a few test swings.]

[And there's a nod of satisfaction.] Cool, ready when you are! [And he's got himself in a fighting stance.

[No it won't. With a look of intense concentration on her face, Erza leaps forward, swinging her sword downwards. If Taichi blocks it, he's definitely going to feel it. Otherwise, there's going to be a big crack in the ground if he dodges (or a big cloud of dust; I don't know what would be on the ground here)]

[I've always imagined the ground is something solid, but either way he doesn't get enough time to dodge so blocking is go! His arms are shaking a bit as he attempts to throw Ezra's sword off, already trying to think of his next plan. He pulls his sword away and attempts to go for a sort of slashing move. It's not very practiced, of course, due to the fact he's basing a lot of this off of what he's seen in movies, but maybe it'll be effective. Maybe.]

[There's a growl of annoyance at the verbal taunt, and he's taking his sword and charging at her again to go for an over-the-head shot.]

[She brings up her sword to block.] If you lose your focus mid-battle, you've already lost. [And aiming a knee at his torso.]

Okay, you're slightly more attentive than I figured. Let's test your reaction time. [And coming at Taichi swinging the sword with inhuman speed, similar to this (http://www.mangareader.net/135-57514-10/fairy-tail/chapter-201.html) (fairly big spoilers, but in general, she's swinging the sword so quickly that it gives the impression that there are multiple swords there)]

[If by reaction time you mean 'test how quickly Taichi can yell and try to run away', then it's pretty fast.] No fair! I thought you said you were just using one cutlass! [And he's going to swing his sword to try and block the sword(s? Hard to tell for him at the moment.)]

I am. [She swings her sword quite hard, in an attempt to knock Taichi's out of his hands.]

[Argh! Okay that's it, time to execute Jack's lessons into his plan. Not only does the sword get knocked from his hands, he falls onto his back and just lays there, groaning in pain. Now...he just has to wait for Erza to approach him.]
